Day 375 – July 1st 2023

Today we slept in!!! It’s a dreary, cloudy day. There is haze in the sky from the fires again. Richard did some laundry and a few other boat chores. It was a lazy day. We cooked on-board and watched baseball.

Day 376 – July 2nd 2023

Today we went to Boldt Castle on Heart a island. We put the dingy in and made the quick ride to the castle. It has plenty of dock space for visitors who arrive by their own boat.

Boldt Castle
Arriving at the boat dock

It is a beautiful older home that belonged to George Boldt and his wife. He was a successful Hotelier of Waldorf Astoria fame. He four spent years having the castle built and his wife tragically died a month before they were to move in. He ceased construction never returned to the castle after that. It sat empty for many years until a preservation company took it and opened it to the public. It was very interesting to go thru the home.

Boldt Castle boat house. He kept 60 boats in here.

His net worth was estimated at $20 million.

After that we took the dingy into town and went to a Mexican restaurant to eat. A disappointment for Texans in need of a fix! There was a fireworks display tonight that we could see from the boat. It was a fun day!!!

Day 377 – July 3rd 2023

Richard got up today and decided to play golf. He walked to the local course and played a round. I think he had fun!!! It was another lazy day for me!!! We grilled lamp chops for dinner. I love these days!!!

Day 378 – July 4th 2023

Happy Independence Day!!! Today we didn’t do a lot. Richard worked on the dingy chock which needed some adjustment to fit the dingy we bought last year in NC. We bathed and groomed Charlie. He was overdue! We grilled steaks and veggies for dinner.

Looking better!

Tonight we sat up on the flybridge and watched all the fireworks!!! It was a really good show!!! There were a lot of boats out on the water. We watched them all as they were leaving. We were glad that we were not out there with them!!! It would be hard coming back in the dark!!!
