Day 369 – June 25th 2023

This morning we are up around 7:00 am. Patti is getting ready to leave and we are all sad!!! We moved the boat over to the pump out spot and did that task then said our goodbyes to Patti. She left the boat and the owner of the little marina is going to drive her to the airport.

Patti, Charlie, Dawn, & Richard

Richard and I started off alone and quickly came to the first lock. It is a baby lock only about 6 ft. A good one to start on alone. We proceeded along quite nicely through the next seven locks.

On our own at the Locks now

We arrived in Oswego , New York at 4:00 pm. We got the boat tied up with some help from others already there. We joined two other Looper couples for dinner at a restaurant near the marina. We were with Dusty and Don on Gemini and Pam and Jeff on Sea the USA. We had a very nice dinner at the restaurant.

We came back to the boat and went to bed. We made our first day without Patti!!! So sad!!!

Day 370 – June 26th 2023

This morning we were getting ready to go and Richard came in and said I could get back in the bed because he wanted to watch the weather. I did not argue with the captain and got back in the bed!!! We ended up staying put at the marina as rain showers and thunderstorms moved in. It rained off and on all day. Richard took the opportunity to do our laundry. We had a lazy day of not doing much!!! It was needed!!! For dinner Richard cooked steak and it was yummy!!! I was in bed fairly early.

Brochers must be in demand, the box was empty!

Day 371 – June 27th 2023

Lighthouse at the Oswego channel

We are up at 6:00 getting ready to go. We left the dock at 6:50. We are crossing the narrow end of Lake Ontario. Soon it looks like we are out in the open ocean!! We can’t see land in any direction!!! Who knew these lakes were this big!!! It was a smooth crossing. Once we crossed the Lake we entered the St Lawrence River and arrived at Clayton, NY at 2:00 pm.

Approaching the St Lawrence River

We are tied up in a nice marina right on the edge of town. For dinner we walked to O’Brians Bar and Grill. We had a nice meal and it was a short walk. I had a Buffalo Chicken Salad. We walked back to the boat and headed to bed.

Day 372 – June 28th 2023

Today is a day of leisure!!! Yeah!!! I slept late and lazed around all day!!!! Richard explored the city some with his bike and did a few boat chores. He cooked lamb chops for dinner!!! Yum!!! We watched baseball and went to bed.

Day 373 -June 29th 2023

Today is another lazy day. We didn’t do much of anything!!! Richard cleaned out the shower sumps. A nasty job that has to be done about every two weeks or it gives us a friendly reminder! Pew whee!

He went to the grocery store and liquor store and the farmers market. For dinner we went to an Italian restaurant that was delicious!!! I had a pasta dish that was yummy!!! Baseball and off to bed!!!

Enjoying our last evening in Clayton

Day 374 – June 30th 2023

This morning we are on the move—but not in a hurry!!! I slept til 11:00 and we left the dock. We went to the fuel station to get diesel. We got around 150 gallons at $4.69/gallon. The price is steadily rising as we go north. We are headed to Wellesley Island about 10 miles away through beautiful Thousand Islands scenery

Lighthouse near Wellesley Island
So many of these huge beautiful homes
And some not so huge
Hard to belief they can only use the homes and water a few months each year!
Thousand Islands Bridge

We arrived at Thousand Islands Club about 2PM. It’s a nice marina with several amenities available. Richard has spotted a golf course nearby so hopefully he’ll get a chance to play while we are here.

We meet our friends David and Heidi on board Frosty. We’ve bumped into them several times in the last year. We joined them for dinner at the Club restaurant and had a great meal.

We came back to the boat. Richard watched the Astros and I went off to bed! A very good day!
