We went from Demopolis to Okatuppa Creek anchorage—a big day 93 miles!!!! We have a lock right off the bat here – Demopolis Lock. This is our next to the last lock for the Great Loop!!!!

We will be the only boat in this anchorage tonight. The other boats we traveled with either stopped earlier are traveled downriver to raft on a barge. We heard they were rafting three wide and we didn’t want to be sticking out that far into the river.
The anchorage is a narrow creek with overhanging branches. Straight out of Deliverance. When we first got to the anchorage Richard let the anchor down and it got hung up on something in the water. We tugged and pulled and finally got it off. Super creepy here especially when Richard noticed a couple in the woods. The woman was videoing our adventure on her phone!
We went back down the tiny creek to another spot and tried again!!! This time it worked!!! And then Richard had a creepy conversation with the couple on the bank. P.S. It’s dark now!! Yes, we have replaced the confiscated weapons from our Canadian firearms debacle.
We cooked dinner on the boat – obviously since we are in the forgotten wilderness of Alabama!!!! Locked the doors and off to bed soon after dinner!!!
