Day 455 – October 25th 2023

This morning we got up and headed out bright and early! We are going to Birdsong Marina. There is a fresh water Pearl Farm there that we would like to learn about. It’s not too far and should take about 4-5 hours to get there. Plenty of time to explore.

Super special people at Birdsong!

We arrived at Birdsong and docked next to a sunken rusting yacht that turned out to have an interesting story. The yacht was commissioned and launched in 1929 and financed by several wealthy families. It was originally used by the Corp of Engineers to entertain politicians to entice them to provide funds build the dams for hydroelectric power on the Tennessee River. It is three stories tall and the top floor was a ballroom. It is resting on the bottom in 12 feet of water.

What stories this yacht could tell!
