It is finally our turn to leave the docks!!! Richard is our flotilla leader and he had a meeting with our group the night before we left. We are all ready to go!!!

We left bright and early in the morning at 6:30 am. Today we are going to Joliet city wall in Joliet Illinois. We all met out in front of the marina and started making our way in Lake Michigan to the entrance to the CalSag. The CalSag connects with the Illinois River which is the start of the rivers segment of The Great Loop.

We had to go thru two locks today and that is a process!!!! Everyone gathers at the entrance and waits for their turn to enter. The boats have to tie up to each other in the lock so it takes a while for everyone to get in. After all boats are in they start to drop the water. At the bottom we all exit one at the time. It takes at least an hour for all this to happen. Some locks take much longer. It is not an easy process!!!
At about 4:00 pm we finally made it to Joliet city wall. Richard had a captains meeting after we all got in and went over the agenda for the next day. It was a long day and we were ready for bed that night!!! Tomorrow is another long day!!!
