We left Beaufort and headed north to River Dunes Marina in Oriental, NC. It is an overcast day and we are anticipating rain. It did start to rain on our journey and we moved downstairs so Richard could drive inside. It was an uneventful trip. We made it to River Dunes at 1:00. We went up to a small restaurant that was open for lunch. We had a good meal!!! Back at the boat not too much to do. We were lazy!!! An early dinner and off to bed.
Day 305 – August 1st 2022
I can’t believe it’s August!!!! Where has the time gone!!! Richard was up early this morning he is excited to get his new dingy today!!! He bought it in Oriental on the trip with Jeff and Melissa. It is being delivered to him this morning. He woke me at 11:00 to go for a dingy ride!!! It is a really nice dingy!!! I have an actual seat now facing forward!!! No more riding backwards for me!!! We rode around for a while and came back to the boat. Now he has to figure out how it is going to fit on the boat!!! He worked on it for a few hours but it is finally on board and tied up!!! All is well in the world!!! We really enjoyed our stay here at River Dunes!!! This marina is a sister property to Marlin Bay in Marathon, FL another place that we absolutely love!!!! We had dinner and went to bed after watching the Astros.

Day 306 – August 2nd 2022
We left River Dunes this morning headed to Belhaven Marina in Belhaven, NC. It is a pleasant boat ride today. Not too much traffic on the water. We made it and got tied up at our dock. We walked into town and went to a Mexican restaurant for dinner. It was good and we had a nice walk back to the boat. Watched the Astros on tv and went to bed.

Day 307 – August 3rd 2022
This morning we left Belhaven and headed to Alligator River Marina. It was a very pleasant ride. We got to Alligator River at 2:00 pm. There is literally nothing here!!!! The “marina” is a gas station with a little kitchen serving sandwiches. We ate a hamburger for lunch that was good!!! We are tied up to a wall behind the gas station. We watched 2 crab boats come in and unload their catch to a truck that pulled up to the dock. What a great place!!! We watched the Astros and went to bed.

Day 308 – August 4th 2022
This morning we got up and Richard walked up to the gas station and got us breakfast sandwiches to eat!!! We left Alligator River and headed to Elizabeth City. On the way there I happened to look at my map and saw we were not headed to Elizabeth City. I pointed this out to Richard and we had to turn around and go back about 5 miles. We fixed the problem and are now going in the right direction. We made it to the marina and got tied up. We are in Camden, NC. There is absolutely nothing here. Just a dock to tie up to. We had a dinner and watched the Astros and went to bed.

Day 309 – August 5th 2022
His morning we were up early and left before 8:00am. We are going to the Dismal Swamp and need to be there by 11:00 to catch the lift lock. We motored along in very pleasant conditions as the waterway is very curvy and scenic. As we entered the Dismal Swamp Canal there were huge amounts of duckweed in the water. The water was completely covered in it!!! This is a very scenic waterway and everything is so pretty. We never saw another boat. We made it to the visitors center and tied up to the wall. We will stay here for the night.
