This morning we got up and headed out from Isle of Palms at 8:00 am. We went over to the pump out station and emptied the holding tank. We then took off and are headed to Georgetown, SC. It is a really pleasant ride on the ICW. We made it to Georgetown at about 2:30 pm. Richard walked up to the restaurant and got take out food for dinner. This is a quaint marina and probably deserves more than just a one night stop. We will need to come back here!!!! It was another awesome day.
Day 281 – July 8th 2022
We left Georgetown at 7:00 am. And are headed to Myrtle Beach, SC. It was a nice pleasant trip with no surprises. Very pretty scenery along the way. We docked in at Myrtle Beach at 3:00 pm. This is another nice marina!!! We went to the Officers Club for dinner. Appropriately, it had kind of an officers club feel to the place but the food was just so so!!! Everyone in the place knew each other. We came back to the boat and watched the Astros on tv and went to bed.
Day 282 – July 9th 2022
We left Myrtle Beach at 9:30 am and arrived at Southport, NC at 1:30 pm. A lot of recreational boaters out on the waterway today. This is another very nice marina!!! For dinner we went to the Rusty Pelican and it was good!!!! I had a bowl of soup and Richard had a salad and flounder — all was delicious!!!! We came back to the boat and watched some Astros baseball and went to bed. I know I’m sounding like a broken record!!! But that’s what we do every night!!!
Day 283 – July 10th 2022
This morning we slept in a little. The forecast had called for rain all day but when Richard got up it was not raining so we decided to go for it!!! We are headed to Topsail Beach, NC. We had a small shower just as we left the dock but it was short. We have passed several ferries loaded with people and one with cars —we guess they are coming from the Outer Banks. We are in the Cape Fear river. We made it to Topsail Beach at 3:45pm. This is another very nice marina. We got fuel – 240 gallons @ $6.10 a gallon. Thankfully the cost is coming down some from last week. We moved over to our slip and tied up just ahead of the rain. Charlie can walk right out the back of the boat where there is good grass!!! We had hamburgers for dinner, watched the Astros, and went to bed!!!
Day 284 – July 11th 2022
This morning we are up early!!! Richard’s alarm went off at 6:00am!!! We have a long day today. We are going to Beaufort, NC about an eight hour trip. We left the dock at a little before 7:30 am. It is a little chilly this morning I had to put on a jacket and am still cold!!!! It is a very scenic ride with lots to see!!!! We have to stay on our toes today – small ICW Chanel and not very deep water!!!
We got here safely and are tied up beside Jeff and Melissa’s boat Flip Flop at Beaufort Docks. They were not on board but arrived shortly after to join in some arrival docktails. They had made reservations for dinner at a restaurant within walking distance. The restaurant was called The Grocery Store and it was absolutely delicious!!!! We had a fun night!!! Back to the boat and off to bed!! The Astros have an off day!
