Day 226 – April 3rd 2022

We had a very disturbing night anchored out on the boat at Great Sale Cay. A very big storm moved in around midnight and the seas were all chopped up and there was no sleep for us until around 2:00 am. The next morning we discovered we had dead batteries and couldn’t start the engines.

Richard worked on the boat all day long trying to get the charger on line again. He had a small trickle charger that Matt had given him in Marathon. Turns out that was a life saver.

All the other boats that were anchored around us left and we were the only boat left. Late that night another boat showed up and anchored out and Richard called him on the radio and made plans to meet the next morning and see if he could help us.

◦ Day 227 – April 4th 2022

The next morning our boat neighbor was up early at 7:00 am and was calling to come help. Richard took our dingy over to his boat and picked him up and he came on over!!! He brought a bag of some tools he had onboard and he was a very nice man. He had a battery booster on board and coupled with the trickle charge all night, we got the engines started the next morning and we were back in business!!! We promptly returned our neighbor to his boat and pulled our anchor and left the awful anchorage!!!

The boat ran fine all day long. We arrived at Green Turtle Marina at 4:15 pm. We pulled in to our slip and it was just perfect!!! This is a really awesome marina!!! There is a very good restaurant here and it’s a very protected marina. We picked up the golf cart and went to Pineapples for a drink and some conch salad then came back to the marina and had dinner at the restaurant.

Day 228 – April 5th 2022

Richard ordered parts to fix the boat. He is airfreighting some and his brother, David, will bring some next week when they arrive for a visit. We had lunch at the Wrecking Tree restaurant. We explored around the island in the golf cart and found a house we rented in 2009 with several other couples from Memphis.

It was called Villa Pasha and it brought back great memories from that week. Unfortunately Hurricane Dorian gave it a kick in the face and it hasn’t been repaired yet. Hopefully the owners will put her back in great shape. We came back to the boat and Richard cooked dinner onboard. Another awesome day in our newly found paradise!!!!

Day 229 – April 6th 2022

Richard made French toast with some newly purchased coconut bread that was delicious!!! We went to the Tranquil Turtle for happy hour and snacks. We went to the restaurant for dinner it was steak night and they had a Bahamian band playing. Turns out it was the same folks from a band we found during our visit in 2009, The Gully Roosters. We enjoyed listening to them after dinner. Another fabulous day in the books!!!

Day 230 – April 7th 2022

Day 234 – April 11th 2022

We showed David and Melissa the island by golf cart. We rode all around and saw all the sights. Melissa still has no suitcase!!!
